Introduction
Making your own book is much easier than it may sound, and any age or experience level can achieve beautiful results using simple techniques.  Bookbinding once was a relatively obscure craft, but now has sprung into the mainstream with easy and exciting techniques.  Handmade books can be made as: photo albums, journals, scrap books, guest registers, and much more.  Just as there are many different uses for handmade books, there are many different styles.  The greatest things I have found about making my own books is the flexibility I have customizing the book as well as the wonderful feeling of giving someone a true piece of art.

The simplest and most versatile style I have found is based on Japanese book making, and is the technique you will learn to make.  The materials necessary are inexpensive, and the time required varies depending on the size of the book and the amount of detail.  (Books generally take from 1-3+ hours to make)  This site will teach you how to make a book, finished size 6"x9" that can be used as a photo album, journal, or small scrap book.  This book will require approximately 1 hour or less from start to finish.  When you are ready to get started, go to the next section and get the materials you will need.
