Project   Materials

This is an example of the book you will learn to make.  Details:  Finished book is 6"x9" with 16 pages, a good size for a photo album or journal.  The book is bound with a 'criss-cross' pattern that is quick and easy to stitch.
Here are the materials you will need:
    Cover materials:
Chipboard or Davey Board (3#-4#)*  (enough for 2 pieces 6"x9")
NOTE:  Do not use cardboard, it is not dense enough to last
Decorative Paper*    (enough to cover front and back of each cover)

    Pages:
        8 sheets - light/medium acid free card stock  (8 1/2" x 11")*
        1 sheet vellum or rice paper (at least 8 1/2" x 11")*

    Binding**:
        2 yards ribbon 3/8" thick
Needle with eye large enough to thread ribbon

    Miscellaneous:
        Ruler*
        Paper cutter (optional)
        Exacto-knife*
        Non-PH Glue*
        Drill, with 1/8" drill bit
4 Butterfly clips or craft clamps*

*  All of these materials can be found at craft supply stores, or art hardware stores such as Michael's or Art Hardware.
**Binding materials are often easier to find at fabric stores, plus you may find a wider variety for ribbon there as well.
Have fun with the colors of your decorative paper, ribbon, and pages  --  after all this is YOUR book!
