Conferences and Organisations

A number of working groups at the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) run conferences that are relevant to Global IT, including:
 
  • IFIP WG 9.4 - Social Implications of Information Technology in Developing Countries. The University of Malaysia, Sarawak will host the regional Conference on IT in Asia from September 15-16, 1999.
  • IFIP WG 8.7 - Informatics in Multinational Enterprises had its first meeting in Washington D.C. in 1997.
  • IFIP WG 8.4 - Telecooperation (formerly Office Information Systems)
 
The Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) (January 4-7, 2000) has a track on "Organizational Systems and Technology" with minitracks on "IS in Global Business" and "IT in Developing Countries".
The Information Resources Management Association annual conference, May 21-24, 2000, will have tracks on "Global IT Management" and "IT in Asia-Pacific Countries".
The first Global Information Technology Management (GITM) world conference (June 11-13, 2000) will be devoted to  IT management issues.
 
The 8th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) (July 3-5, 2000) will have tracks on "Globalisation and Culture", and "IS Policy, Strategy, Innovation and the Management of Knowledge"
