The Global Classroom Videos

The Global Classroom produces videos that supplement its distance learning efforts. These videos are available as part of the class or separately. The videos touch on a wide variety of topics, but always focus around some issue related to international trade and its role as an agent of globalization. The videos are the result of a collaboration of faculty at American University in Washington DC, between Dr. James Lee in the School of International Service and Dr. John Doolittle in the School of Communciations. Each show has four parts.

You can order them by sending an email to address below. The videos can be purchased as part of the Global Classroom according to differing levels of participation.

Here are ways to participate in the Global Classroom.
(1) Purchase of a "Class" that is delivered to a home institution as part of the season's Global Classroom "Core" class. It is preferred to work with a local instructor.
(2) Enrollment for a class at American University and pay AU rates accrding to AU policy.
(3) Payment of fees for specialized services, including videos, email broadcasts and Virtal confernce hosting.

The Video is about 55 minutes long and has four segments. Trailers give additional Web and bibliographic information.

Part I is a 10-15 mintue lecture on issues and cases of trade, environment and culture by Dr. James Lee. Part II is a current and topical news program on trade produced and prepared by broadcast journalism students 0f 5-10 minutes. Part III is a discussion between Dr. Lee and a guest (or guests) on current trade issues, followed by a series of student-generated questions and responses. Part IV Presents a focus "Case of the Week" and provides background information on the show.
