THE KURDS: SEARCH FOR IDENTITY

An international conference
April 17-18, 2000
Butler Pavilion, 6th Floor

This two-day conference analyzed, in global context, key political, economic and cultural issues confronting the Kurds and the region of Kurdistan at present and over the next decade.  It also explored processes of reconciliation among Kurdish groups and factions and coexistence between the Kurds and the peoples and states of the Middle East.  Participants included scholars, policy makers and journalists.  The conference was presented by American University’s Center for Global Peace in conjunction with the newly established Mustafa Barzani Scholar of Global Kurdish Studies.
