Kathe Albrecht is the Art Department's visual resources collection curator. She is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received her bachelor of arts in art history in 1975 and the American University, where she received a master's degree in art history in 1989.

Her field of specialization is architectural history. Ms. Albrecht has served as Curator at AU since 1991. She maintains and develops the slide collection and new media services and supervises the Art History graduate fellows. In addition, Ms. Albrecht served as one of three project coordinators for the MESL project at American University. She represented the Visual Resources Association (VRA) at the Conference on Fair Use, a working group convened by the Department of Commerce in 1994 to ensure the role of Educational Fair Use in the Digital environment. Ms. Albrecht continues to represent VRA at the Digital Future Coalition and the National Initiative for a Networked Cultural Heritage (NINCH). She has served at both the regional and national level in the VRA and is currently the chair of the Intelletual Property Rights Committee.
