Professor Waters has been with American University since 1965, for the most part teaching physical chemistry courses. In 1978 he received the Outstanding Teacher award from the university. He is a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma Chemistry Fraternity, as well as Sigma Xi, Phi Lambda Upsilon, and the American Chemical Society. Dr. Waters' publications are in physical chemistry and polymer chemistry/physics. interests.
