Degrees in Economics
Degree Programs
BA in Economics
The BA in Economics combines economic theory with applied fields
such as labor economics or international finance. This degree
allows the student the flexibility of a double major with other
departments in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of
International Service, the Kogod College of Business Administration,
the School of Public Affairs, or the School of Communication.
BS in Economics
Combined BA
- MA Degree
The combined BA and MA program allows the student to complete
both degrees in five years.
Honors in Economics
Minor in Economics
BA in Communication, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government
(CLEG)
An interdisciplinary major in Communication, Legal Institutions,

Washington
Semester in Economic Policy
This one-semester undergraduate program draws on the unique environment
of Washington, D.C. to introduce students to governmental policy
making as it relates to the international and domestic economy.
The program includes seminars, internships, and research. Students
earn undergraduate credit that may be applied toward the requirements
for the BA degree in the Department of Economics. See the web

Study Abroad
The university offers a wide variety of programs of study in other
countries such as Belgium, Argentina, the Czech Republic, Chile,
France, and Italy. Many of these programs offer course credit
that can be used for major and related course requirements. See

Formal admission to the major and minor in economics requires
a grade point average of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) and the approval
of the department's undergraduate advisor. The department also
counsels freshmen and transfer students who have an interest in
economics.
