Anastasia Snelling,
Ph.D., R.D.
Dr. Anastasia Snelling is an associate professor at American University in the Department of Health and Fitness. Dr. Snelling has been teaching undergraduate and graduate health promotion programs for the past two decades with a focus on nutrition and behavior change, the integration of health promotion into health care, and health communication. Some select course activities include web development, a trip to Capitol Hill, and writing a health column for the student paper, the Eagle. Further, she features several guest speakers from organizations such as Center for Science in the Public Interest, Kaiser Permanente, Pfizer, and Partnership for Prevention. Dr. Snelling scholarship activities include writing, speaking and consulting. Her speaking engagements are at the local, regional, and national conferences, such as Art and Science of Health Promotion, American Dietetic Association, Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, and Maryland Health Care Coalition. She has spoken on such issues as health advocacy, weight management, and nutrition programming. Dr. Snelling has written papers on bone health, weight management, stages of change and fruit and vegetable intake and these have been featured in the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Journal of Women's Health and Gender-Based Medicine, Journal of American College of Nutrition, American Journal of Health Promotion, as well as other journals. She was editor for the Absolute Advantage publication on professional preparation for health promotion education across the United States. Other links
