Position: Research Intern

RESEARCH INTERN

The Prospect Center of the American Institutes for Research, a dynamic health research and communications organization located in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a Research Intern to assist in conducting public health research and evaluation studies. The qualified applicant will have completed a Bachelor's Degree, have at least one year of relevant work experience, and will be currently pursuing an MPH or Master's Degree in a social science or health-related field. This paid opportunity is ideal for degree candidates seeking a practicum or other work-based educational experience for a period of four-months/an academic semester.

Responsibilities will include:

* literature searches

* report and other document preparation

* data collection, entry and related tasks

* data presentation (e.g., creating graphs and tables)

* research logistics (e.g. scheduling interviews)

* other support to mid-level research staff as needed.

Additionally, this experience will provide an opportunity to learn about the methods and subject matter of research studies in tobacco control, substance abuse prevention, cancer control, HIV/STD prevention, diabetes, and possibly other areas of public health.

* Writing sample. 3 to 5 pages in length - preferably something that demonstrates analytic skills (e.g. paper or report written for college course).
