Fields of Interest

Andrew L. Yarrow, is visiting history professor at American University, teaching courses on 20th-century America. He received his Ph.D. from George Mason University and an MPA from Harvard University, and is a consultant to the The Brookings Institution. A former reporter for The New York Times, his books include Latecomers: Children of Parents Over 35 (Free Press, 1991), and Forgive Us Our Debts: The Intergenerational Dangers of Fiscal Irresponsibility (Yale University Press, 2008). He has published many op-eds, popular and schoarfly articles.

Dr. Yarrow previously taught journalism at American University; was a Clinton Administration political appointee; consulted for the World Bank, UNICEF, the U.S. Department of Education, and the Carnegie Corporation; worked for the U.S. Department of Labor and the Export-Import Bank; and received fellowships from the European Union, the French Government, the Kennedy and Truman Presidential Libraries, Princeton University, George Mason University, and the Institute for International Education.
