- What will the Katzen Arts Center mean for the
Dance Department?
|
This is a very exciting
time for the dance program, and the entire department.
AU’s Katzen Arts Center, that opened in Fall 2005, has
a dance studio for technique classes, a small black box
theater and offers easy access to the full-time faculty.
|
- What types of performace opportunities are available
on campus?
|
Including mainstage productions
at the Harold and Sylvia Greenberg Theatre, there are
student-choreographed and produced
concerts. More informal studio concerts are
also presented during the year by the program.
|
- Are the performance opportunities outside the
AU community?
|
Yes! Students are urged
to participate in community dance activities as dancers,
choreographers, audience members and producers. Local
performances, auditions and information are posted on
the dance bulletin board in the Katzen building, by the music library. Also,
many AU alums are active members of the DC dance community
and post information on the AU Dance Department listserve.
|
- What is the DPA Dance program's involvement with
national and international organizations?
|
A highlight of the dance
program is its flexibility, including the opportunity
to create independent studies and internships with organizations
such as the National Endowment for the Arts, the Kennedy
Center, DanceUSA and more.
|
- Where can I get more information on area internships?
|
Visit the internship page for information on dance specific
internship opporunities in the DC area. |
