UNDERGRADUATE PEER ADVISING GROUP

Meet Peer Advising Advisors

What We Do

We're peer advisers. We are a group of juniors and seniors who have been selected by the department to help you make decisions about your academic future. We're here to help fellow majors and minors decide what courses to take to not only fulfill their requirements, but boost their transcripts and suit their interests.

So how are we different from your faculty advisors?

Professors are valuable assets, but there is some information that they simply may not be able to provide you. As students, we can offer firsthand insight into various aspects of taking a course that your advisor may not be able to provide you. For example, while all of our professors are excellent educators, we can talk to you about their teaching styles, and whose might suit your learning style best. We've taken the classes, we've seen the syllabi, and we're here to help.

Why stop by the peer advising office?

By no means are we meant to supplant your faculty advisors- we're here to supplement whatever information they can give you, and perhaps offer a less intimidating environment. Consulting with a peer advisor may help define the direction of the courses you take; consider stopping by before meeting with your advisor for registration clearance. In addition, we can talk to you about psychology extracurriculars, scholarships, research opportunities, and internship programs.
