VIRTUAL JFK: Vietnam, If Kennedy Had Lived

a forthcoming book by James Blight and Janet M. Lang, academic advisors for the Academy Award-winning film
The Fog of War: Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

What would President John F. Kennedy have done in Vietnam had he not been assassinated in 1963? The authors explore this question, presenting extensive historical data on JFK as he resists pressures for military escalation. The book also draws upon newly declassified documents and tapes, as well as testimony from a 2005 critical oral history conference held with Kennedy and Johnson administration officials.

Deadline to apply for the Capstone Conference

Interested Honors seniors who graduated in August or December 2007, or who will graduate in May 2008, are eligible to apply. Although participation in the conference is not mandatory, only those students who apply and are selected to present at the event are eligible for an Outstanding Capstone Award, given at the May 2008 Honors Convocation.

Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. today. Click here to apply.

NOTE: It is not necessary for students to have completed their Capstone by the Capstone Conference in order to apply to participate.

AU Past & Future: A Conversation with President Neil Kerwin

An AU Honors alumnus (’71), Dr. Kerwin holds a Master of Arts in political science from the University of Rhode Island and a Doctor of Philosophy in political science from Johns Hopkins University (1978). President Kerwin is a nationally recognized specialist and published author in public policy and the regulatory process. He is also the accomplished author of numerous monographs, chapters in edited books, anthologies, and articles.
