From Watergate to Iraq: The Role of Confidential Sources

From Watergate to Abu Ghraib, reporting the truth about those in power has depended on confidential sources. But did the government overreach by jailing a New York Times reporter? Or have news organizations relied too much on anonymous leaks?

The School of Communication is hosting "The American Forum" with panelists from The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, and Newsweek in addition to investigative journalist Chuck Lewis.

Itzhak Perlman
performing Tchiakovsky, Barber's Violin Concerto, and other works with the National Symphony Orchestra

Perlman is the reigning virtuoso of the violin. After arriving in New York, he soon tumbled toward greatness with an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1958. Since then, he has appeared with every major orchestra and has won 4 Emmy Awards. Most famously, Perlman performed the violin solos in Schnidler's List.
