Exceptional Honors faculty members and Honors students are nominated for one or more of the following Honors Awards.

Honors Student Awards

• Outstanding Honors Senior Award
• Outstanding Honors Junior Award
• Outstanding Honors Sophomore Award
• Outstanding Honors Freshman Award

The above awards are given to Honors students with a strong GPA and who demonstrate outstanding leadership at the university or in the community.

• Honors Scholar Award -- This award is given to the student(s) who have presented notable papers or other significant academic projects (such as multimedia, performing arts, or business presentations) at conferences or competitions outside AU and who exemplify the scholarship of AU Honors students.
• Outstanding Leadership in the Honors Community -- This award is given to the student(s) who have demonstrated oustanding leadership in Honors Program activities.

Honors Faculty Awards

• Honors Faculty of the Year Award -- This award is given to the faculty member for his/her contribution to Honors teaching.

In addition to making Honors student and Honors Faculty of the Year awards, the University Honors Program recognizes other AU faculty and staff who have made significant contributions to the University Honors Program. If you wish to nominate an individual for a specific contribution not covered in the listed Honors Awards, please send your nomination to honors@american.edu.
