Radiation Safety Committee
The Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) is charged with oversight and review of all radioactive materials present on campus. The committee conducts inspection of campus locations which house radioactive materials to make sure that the materials are properly labeled and secure. The RSC maintains and updates the university's license with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the District of Columbia. The RSC reviews all protocols which propose to conduct research using radioactive materials. Additionally, the RSC is a portion of the Hazardous Materials Committee for the university and, as such, the committee is involved with all decisions regarding the procurement, handling, use and disposal of radioactive material.
