COMPLIANCE: IRB/Human Subjects

Human Subjects

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is charged with reviewing all proposals which apply for external funding which will use human subjects in the proposed research project. The IRB also reviews all proposals involving human subjects as part of a faculty and/or student research, dissertation, thesis or classroom project. Each proposal must be submitted to the IRB using a Research Proposal Review form. Proposals which do not seek external funding are initially reviewed at the unit level by the IRB's unit designee. However, proposals which do not seek external funding yet in which a fee for service is involved, the University community is surveyed or community-standard sensitive issues are discussed are reviewed at the University IRB level.
