Activating Your Blackboard Courses
1. Log on to the Portal, my.american.edu.
2. When your personal page appears (it says “Welcome” and gives your name), mouse click on “ACADEMICS,” a link
found near the upper right hand side of your personal Portal page. Assuming all is well with the system, the ACADEMICS
page will appear.
3. Most of you will already be familiar with this page, since it is where we submit our grades. There are two columns of links, “GENERAL
LINKS” (on the left) and “PERSONALIZED LINKS” (on the right).
4. In the PERSONALIZED LINKS column, click on “My Class Section Rosters.” The “Section Rosters Main page will appear.
5. On this page, following a set of instructions, you will see a tabulation of your courses, with columns labeled “TERM,” “SECTION,”
“TITLE,” “ENROLLMENT,” “EARLY WARNING,” and “BLACKBOARD”. Those of you who have used this tabulation before will note that the BLACKBOARD column is new. In the BLACKBOARD column, next to each of your courses, the word “Enable” will be found.
6. When you click on Enable, it will become ENABLED.
7. That’s all there is to it. As the last message on the section roster pages says, your course should be activated in 24 hours. |
