Distance Education Training Course Overview
This course intends to prepare faculty who have taught in a traditional face-to-face format to transform that course into an online experience. We want to include you in this developing community.
During the duration of the course there will be a combination, on a weekly basis, of instruction and collaboration that will include elements of both online and in-person instruction. The class will last from late January to late March. There are two community events that are bookends to the class.
Pre-Meeting: DL Faculty Luncheon: January TBA
Post-Meeting: DL Faculty Luncheon: May TBA
The class will meet twice a week, either online and in-person. The online meetings will occur about Monday and the in-person meetings will occur on Thursdays (if possible, else online materials will be available). The online meetings capture the spirit of online discourse and instruction. The topics here will focus on the course, the syllabus, the timing and delivery of the class, the grading, and the final output. The in-person meetings recognize the learning styles of individual faculty and the availability of on-campus resources.
Faculty interested in creating a new online course for Summer 2008 may apply for the Faculty Course Development Grant.
