The Social Science Research Lab (SSRL) is a multi-functional and multi-faceted facility providing quantitative and technology expertise across disciplines as varied as economic, international relations and economics. The facility includes a classroom with 21 stations and a general work area housing 11 computers. The staff provides support for specialized statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, Stata and the like, with expertise ranging from creating an effective research design to interpreting statistical results. The SSRL also has a great variety of other capabilities including HTML authoring programs, specialized data sources and open source software including Open Office, gimp and LaTex.

Exam Scanning
The SSRL performs scanning of standard, non-standard tests and surveys. The "General Purpose Answer Sheet, Form# 16504" is the Standard Testing Form that should be used at American University for multiple choice tests. It is two sided and must be filled in with a #2 pencil as the scanner will only read #2 pencil marks. All demographic fields are optional. However, students must fill in at least their names and ID numbers. To order Form# 16504 call (800) 735-2566.

Printing Costs
*printers require AU EagleBuck$ Card
Black-and-white laser printing is 10 cents per page.
Color laser printing is one dollar per page, available through the New Media Center.
