Please answer each of the following questions:

1. Considering the history and development of the field of International Communication over the last half century, which perspective and research tradition of International Communication can best explain and offer insights into recent transformations in international relations as well as the role of communication and media in its analysis. These transformations may include such developments as: the demise of the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet Union, the resurgence of Islam, the expansion of globalization and liberalization, and ongoing international conflicts in various regions around the world. Your analysis should be supported by reference to scholarly works in the tradition of your choice.

2. Using one country of your choice, assess the impact of international communication policy trends (such as commercialization, privatization, trade agreements, intellectual property, telecommunications, industry consolidation, etc.) on the model and development of national communication policy in one or more sectors of that nation. You may employ an analysis that focuses on economic, cultural, political, technological or social dimensions of communication policy. What policy recommendations would you provide to address the issues you have raised in your answer?

3. Identify the major approaches to information technology and development. How has the evolution of information technologies changed the strategies of development, and vice versa? Support your argument by citing specific national and/or international cases, along with relevant scholarly literature in the IC field.
