Research and Background
Ms. Beatrice Reaud is currently a PhD candidate at American University's School of International Service in Washington, D.C. where she is focusing her research on the impact of remittances on development. Specifically, she is exploring the relationship between developing country corridors, with a focus on Latin America and Africa. She is doing research for the U.S. Agency for International Development Latin America Bureau on democracy trends. Prior to pursuing her degree at American University, Bea was a Program Examiner with the Executive Office of the President's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) since 2000. As an OMB examiner, Bea worked on a team responsible for implementing the Administration's budget and management agenda on Medicaid, the largest public health insurer in the United States, which provides insurance to over 40 million people. Prior to working on health care, Bea was the primary liaison between OMB and domestic economic development and trade agencies at the Department of Commerce. In this capacity, Ms Reaud led budget and legislative reviews, negotiations, and program evaluation on programs totaling over $1 billion.
Bea was a National Urban Rural Fellow, a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Fellow, Presidential Management Intern, and an NSEP Boren fellow. Ms. Reaud holds a Masters in Public Administration from the City University of New York, Baruch College in Manhattan. Bea received her undergraduate degree from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
