SIS
Alumni Association Update
We have a full schedule to round off the Fall, including
our signature Dinner and Discussion event on November
15th at The Old Ebbitt Grill, where Deputy Director Al Matano
from the US Department of State will discuss USG counternarcotics
policies in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Last year’s
Spring event was a great success and we encourage you to
attend again. Also, don’t forget the SIS
Fall Dinner where we will honor Professor of the Year,
Abdul Said for their 50 years of dedication and service to
the school. We will also be renewing our commitment
to service by volunteering at the Capital Area Food Bank on
December 9th to pack food bundles for this great anti-poverty/anti-hunger
organization in DC. We also wan to make sure you take
advantage of the SIS/AA’s monthly Movers and Shakers events
to socialize, relax, and reconnect with one another; November’s
event will take place on November 20th at a local restaurant.
Additionally, I want to
take this opportunity on behalf of the Alumni Association
to thank all of you for your continued
support of the SIS family. Many of you have given of
your time, talents and money to ensure that SIS continues
to carry the tradition of excellence in international relations. In
the SIS/AA's efforts to thank our alums for their generosity,
we have recently added several incentives for chapter
members including reduced memberships to international
organizations and academic subscriptions as well as
discounts at several metropolitan restaurants and establishments.
We look forward to seeing
you at our events this Fall. Thank
you for your continued support of SIS and for keeping the
AU SIS Alumni spirit alive! Please remember to renew
your membership and sign up for email alerts to help you
stay connected. Please visit us at our website: http://www.american.edu/sis/alumni/alumnievents.htm.
