Spring 2007 Job and Internship Fair a Success
The Spring 2007 Job and Internship Fair was held on March 22, bringing together employers and students in American University’s biggest annual career fair. This year’s fair witnessed a new record in student attendance, as nearly 900 AU students flooded Bender Arena in the hopes of landing a job or a summer internship. According to Olya Dadressan, SIS Career Advisor, “AU always receives compliments on the quality of its students,” and this year was no exception. As a testament to this reputation for quality, Chemonics International, a leading global consulting firm in international development, maintains an internship program exclusively for American University students.
In addition to Chemonics, the fair gathered together employers from the profit, non-profit, and public sectors in a three hour afternoon bonanza of resume and business card exchanging. Over 160 employers attended this year’s fair, ranging from big names like the State Department down to small research nonprofits whose fellows can be counted on one hand. Noteworthy firms recruiting at the fair included the Academy for Educational Development, DFI International, and Corporate Risk International. With all these opportunities in one place, AU job and internship fairs are great ways for students to connect to potential employers. This year’s fair continued that tradition with brilliance. |
