Data Quality Act Requires:
  • OMB to issue standards for data disseminated by federal agencies.
  • Agencies to issue standards which conform with those issued by OMB
  • Agencies to establish a correction process for inaccurate information.

3
Significance of E-Rulemaking
  • Electronic Dockets
  • Electronic dockets, which would contain copies of all comments submitted by outside parties, would have a significant impact on the implementation of the Data Quality Act
4
Significance of E-Rulemaking
  • E-Dockets would:
  • Provide a basis for outside parties to police the comments of other third parties.
  • Would make it difficult for third parties to take different comments in different dockets.
  • Lessen review time for federal regulators because outside parties would point out inaccuracy in other third party comments.
  • Most importantly, facilitate implementation of the “third party” provisions of the Data Quality Act
5
Third Party Provisions
  • State that federal agencies can only use that data submitted by third
  • parties which meet the requirements of the Data Quality Act.
