You can complete your enrollment and housing agreement online!

Step 1

Set up your new Admitted Student Portal.

Even if you have a Prospective Student Portal, you will need to set up an Admitted Student Portal.

To activate your portal:

  • Open a Web browser and go to https://myau.american.edu/.
  • Click on "Create your account.
  • Select the "I am a Student" link.
  • Enter the required personal information, including your seven-digit AU ID that can be found on any official document from the university, and enter an initial password.
  • The system will take a moment to create your account. Then proceed through the tutorial.
  • Write down your username and password and keep it nearby.

Step 2

Complete the Enrollment Agreement and Housing Application and submit your deposit online.

Rooms are assigned based on the date that you pay the housing deposit. Students who complete the enrollment and deposit process through the portal receive immediate confirmation of their enrollment and are assigned housing based on the date of the submission of the online deposit. Students who mail the Enrollment Agreement and Housing Application (.pdf file) will be assigned housing based on the date it is received and processed by AU.

If you will be requesting housing, review your housing and residence-hall options at american.edu/ocl/housing. Each of the undergraduate residence halls on the main campus have their own special character. First-time freshmen are guaranteed on-campus housing. Transfer students with fewer than 36 credits at the time of admission will be guaranteed housing on either the Main campus, Tenley campus or in university-sponsored off-campus housing provided that the deposit is received by July 1 for fall transfer enrollment or December 1 for spring transfer enrollment. Transfer students with 36 or more credits may be housed on a space available basis, but housing is not guaranteed. New first-time freshmen will be using "Residence," our online roommate matching and room selection system. Please check your AU e-mail for frequent updates and information.

Log back in to myau.american.edu using your new Admitted Student username and password. In the Academic tab of the portal, find the Enrollment and Housing Agreement link in the Personalized Links section. Fill out the form and submit it along with the $600 tuition and housing deposit using a credit card or E-Check. We will credit this nonrefundable deposit toward your tuition and housing bills.

  • Early Decision I: January 15
  • Early Decision II: March 1
  • Regular Decision fall freshmen: May 1
  • Fall/spring transfers and spring freshmen: Within four (4) weeks after receipt of admission notification.
