American University (AU) will consider up to a maximum of 30 credits for transfer from a combination of military course work that the American Council on Education (ACE) has deemed appropriate for academic credit.
Transfer credit for work completed at a regionally accredited institution such as the Community College of the Air Force, or the American Military University may be included in the overall cumulative total of 75 transfer credits. Credit for Military Occupation Services (MOS) will not be considered for transfer at the time of admission, but may be awarded at a later date through the APEL. See the AU Transfer Credit Policy for full details.
In general, students can expect to receive general elective credit for course work that ACE has identified as academic. A committee comprised of faculty from various disciplines will determine if credits may be articulated as subject elective credit or AU course equivalent credit.
