What I Love About AU: I love working for a university with alumni, students, faculty, and staff who are so commited to improving the world around them. It's a daily inspiration!

Assistant Director of Alumni Programs

Heather Buckner, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Special Events & Programs

Tenure at AU: Three years

Education: BA, English and communication studies, Luther College

Areas of Responsibility: All programming for the DC-metro area, including Alumni Weekend, Holiday Soiree, and Toast to Graduates.

What I Love About AU: Every day I get to meet or speak with alumni about their AU experiences and where their lives have taken them through their careers post-AU.  I'm always hearing the best stories about dinners with dignitaries, trips to Malaysia, and surprise AU connections in Baghdad.  I'm honored to be part of such an amazing community.

Alumni Programs Career Liaison

Pat Oltmann, Alumni Career Programs Coordinator

Tenure at AU: Eleven and a half years

Areas of Responsibility: Liaison between the Alumni Programs Office and the Career Center; Coordinate school-specific networking receptions to bring AU alumni, students, and employers together to share career information; Disseminate information (at events, via e-mail, and telephone) to AU alumni about AU's career services for alumni; Connect alumni and students to network for career information via inCircle, AU's online community.

What I Love About AU: As a proud alumna of AU, I love working in such a stimulating environment with so many opportunities to learn all around me.

Areas of Responsibility: Oversight of all Development Communications, including the alumni e-newsletter, campaign newsletter, and alumni Web site.
