American University's Washington, D.C. area alumni in the entertainment and media industries are at the epicenter for breaking news, media, public policy communication, and dynamic filmmaking. American University's Entertainment and Media Alumni Alliance is expanding its reach to the metro area in the spring by introducing a D.C. chapter dedicated to supporting and engaging the more than 10,000 alumni presently working in entertainment and media nationwide.
In 2013, EMAA launched two chapters – in New York and Los Angeles – and will be structuring the D.C. chapter similarly. The chapter will support and foster the AU entertainment and media alumni communities through training, practice, and professional development with increased opportunities for meaningful engagement. EMAA will do this by galvanizing its community through events, advocacy, career connections, and philanthropy.
Formation of the D.C. chapter is the next step in a broader strategy to establish EMAA as not only an organization that serves the needs of our alumni, but also as a resource for our faculty and current and prospective students.
The Office of Alumni Relations is seeking volunteers in the D.C. area who are interested in planning and designing in-person events, creating social media buzz, and executing EMAA's engagement strategy. If this sounds like an opportunity that you are interested in, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete the Alumni Volunteer Form online.
Whether you are interested in career connections, social events, advocacy, student mentorship, exposure, or simply a unique way to give back, EMAA is a great place to start.
