No matter their academic interests, the 700 prospective graduate students who descended on AU June 17 share one thing in common: a desire to make a difference.

For the first time, AU’s School of Public Affairs (SPA) hosted the popular Idealist.org Graduate Degree Fair for the Public Good. The event, held in the Katzen Arts Center rotunda, featured representatives from 61 graduate programs across the country.

Idealist.org is considered the preeminent Web site for those interested in working toward a better world. Each day, 35,000 global users browse the site’s more than 4,000 job postings and 15,000 volunteer opportunities. They can also get information about internships and grad school programs.

“In hosting these fairs across the country, Idealist.org seeks to partner with schools of public policy, so we were absolutely delighted to be chosen. It was a great opportunity to showcase not only the Katzen and our beautiful campus, but our array of top-notch graduate programs,” said Jacqueline Linde, SPA assistant dean for marketing, admissions, and outreach.

Linde is hopeful this is just the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership with Idealist.org.

“This fair is a wonderful opportunity to introduce AU to people from around the country. We would be thrilled to make this an annual event.”
