.01 Definition

A selected topics (nonrecurring) course is defined as any course or project involving a group of students on a nonrecurring and/or experimental basis. This will include all courses which do not form a regular part of the curriculum of a department or school. In essence, this is a vehicle which will enable the faculty to offer courses on a first‑time basis. It is also a vehicle for experimentation with the curriculum. It is distinguished from independent study projects in that it is open to groups of students under the same conditions by which students register for any course.

.02 Numbering

Nonrecurring selected topics courses shall be numbered xxx-x96. A course may be offered as a nonrecurring selected topic at most three times.

Senate action and Provost approval, December 1982. Effective fall 1983.
