Student's Rights under FERPA

A student's record is private and essentially belongs to the student. Students at American University have the following rights under FERPA:

1 To have access to their educational records
2 To consent to the release of a record to a third-party
3 To challenge information contained in the education record
4 To be notified of their privacy rights
