Kogod Class Helps Students Take Control of Personal Finances

By Adrienne Frank

Don’t know APR from IRA? Get the ABC’s of personal finance in Kogod’s FIN-200, an online class open to the entire AU community this summer.

According to Ronald Anderson, chair of Kogod’s finance department, the class aims to promote financial literacy. Students will learn how to buy a house, how to save for retirement, and how to avoid bad debt.

“The Bernie Madoff situation has made it clear that college students and working professionals alike need to be more aware and intelligent about their financial decisions,” he said.

A general education class primarily targeted at nonbusiness students, FIN-200: Personal Finance and Financial Institutions, will be offered online from May 18 to June 25, and June 22 to August 7. For more information, contact Professor Lawrence Schrenk at
