Judicial Affairs and Mediation Services (JAMS) has a new name: Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Services (SCCR).
According to SCCR director Rosie McSweeney, the new name reflects a shift among professionals in the field, who are moving to more informal language in their communications. Processes that once resembled court proceedings now employ less formal disciplinary conferences and efforts at conflict resolution.
“We believe these changes can have a positive effect on student learning and development without compromising our commitment to uphold community standards and hold students accountable for their conduct,” said McSweeney.
Housed within the Office of Campus Life, SCCR adjudicates nonacademic violations of the Student Conduct Code and offers free, confidential conflict resolution services to all members of the AU community.
