Hundreds of staff dined on spinach casserole and turkey sandwiches Nov. 16 at the annual Staff Council Luncheon at the Mary Graydon Center.
“In all the years I’ve been at American University, the staff council has had an extraordinarily positive voice in the development of this university,” President Neil Kerwin told the crowd. “I want to extend my personal thanks for all that you do on behalf of a faculty that appreciates your work.”
After Kerwin’s remarks, director of employee benefits and communications Sarah Bayne made a presentation explaining the changes in the employee benefits package for 2010.
Among the highlights: new dental coverage, pet insurance, optional increased life insurance, and group auto and home insurance.
“This is the greatest number of changes we’ve had in my 15 years here,” she said.
