SOC Students, Gannett Examine Civil Rights
Access to education is the most important civil rights issue facing Americans in 2010, according to a survey conducted for Gannett by students in the School of Communication.
Gay rights, access to health care, and gender equality are also salient issues, according to the 335 respondents surveyed throughout the spring semester.
The students’ work, which includes charts, graphs, stories, and a video, is part of Gannett’s Civil Rights in America online series.
The research was conducted as part of Amy Eisman’s Writing for Convergent Media class. SOC professor Maria Ivancin supervised the students’ work
