President Neil Kerwin greeted more than 200 AU employees at the annual Staff Council Luncheon. Staff members were also reminded by Sarah Bayne, director of HR communications, that the open enrollment period continues till midnight November 30.

“We’re a place that takes immense pride in the quality of our instruction,” Kerwin said at the event held November 16 in the Mary Graydon Center. “We take immense pride in the contributions to knowledge that our faculty and staff participate very actively in, and we take immense pride in the service that we provide the communities that we are a part of.”

Among the changes Bayne said employees can expect to see this year: increases at about the national average in health care costs and expansion of coverage eligibility for family members. As a result of health care reform, adult children up to age 26 can be added to a member’s health plan, even if the child had not previously been enrolled. In addition, a District legislative change allows opposite sex domestic partners to be added to medical, dental, or life insurance plans.

Details on options and rates are available in the recently distributed health benefits guide and online at the 2011 Open Enrollment portal under Employment at —CS
