Kogod Racking Up Honors at Spring Case Competitions

Kogod students brought home the top prize at three recent case competitions. The students are carrying on the winning streak that began last fall when an undergrad team placed second in the BYU Spanish Language Case Competition and another Kogod team earned top honors—for the second year in a row—in the Deloitte Consulting Battle of the Beltway.

Recent victories include:

  • Undergrads Seth Borko, Kristen Dales, Omar Eltorai, Mark Kruzel, and John Stefos placed first among five D.C. area schools in this global sell-side equity analysis competition. Coached by finance professor Phil English, the team will head to New York for the national competition, April 10.
  • The Kogod Capital Advisors — Sanjana Banerjee, Andrew Boutros, Michael Hirschberg, and Selma Kikic — are the first AU team to win this competition, which focuses on mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, financial advisory, and private equity problems.
  • Panoptic Consulting, the undergraduate team of Ruth Bazie, Seth Borko, Amy Chu, Omar Eltorai, and Dhruv Sarin, won first place at Kogod’s annual competition, February 11. The team went on to compete at Georgetown University’s Hilltop Case Competition and earned first runner-up honors.

Said Kogod dean Michael Ginzberg of the recent accolades: “Our students are demonstrating their professional skills and academic expertise in a meaningful way that advances their learning and promotes the American and Kogod brands among our peers, industry leaders serving as judges, and our alumni.” —AF
