A new, interdisciplinary grad program will help mid-career journalists, PR and IT specialists, and communications pros master the new media landscape — while they’re working.
The master’s of arts in media entrepreneurship (MA/ME) — a partnership between AU’s School of Communication (SOC) and the Kogod School of Business — launches this fall. Amy Eisman, director of the 12-year-old weekend MA in interactive journalism, will head up the program.
"The immediate reaction to the program has been very strong," said Eisman. "Professionals attending our information sessions keep saying this matches their needs exactly."
The 10-course, 30-credit degree, which may be completed in 20 months, is aimed at working professionals who want to launch a start-up or build an app, website, or new product for their current organization. Students will split their time between SOC and Kogod, taking such classes as: entrepreneurship and innovation, communication law, media technology management, financial analysis, marketing, and management theory.
Learn more about the MA/ME at an information session: June 13, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; or July 21, 10 a.m. to noon. All sessions will be held in the Butler Board Room.
