The AU community turned out for discounts and a raffle at the campus bookstore’s December 8 grand reopening celebration that featured refreshments and an appearance by AU mascot Clawed. The renovation opened up retail space, creating a better shopping atmosphere and making the bookstore more accessible and convenient for customers, said manager Kristi Cole. The textbook area was also reorganized, with a section added to fulfill online orders, which now account for about half of textbook sales, and for book buy-back and rental check-in. The bookstore was last renovated about 10 years ago, Cole said.

Cutting the ribbon at the grand reopening were Cole; Michael McEneany, Follett Higher Education Group, vice president, marketing and sales, Eastern Region; Jorge Abud, assistant vice president of facilities development and real estate; Donald Myers, chief financial officer, vice president and treasurer; Howard Taylor, Follett, vice president, eastern retail operations; David Courter, director of Auxiliary Services; Juanita Edwards, contracts manager, Auxiliary Services; Nancy Sattler, Follett regional manager; and Clawed (aka Danielle Davis, AU Campus Store sales associate).
