President Kerwin Highlights AU’s Spring Successes
As more than 3,500 graduates prepare to cross the Bender Arena stage and collect their diplomas next month, President Neil Kerwin reflects on another productive and exciting spring semester at American University.
Among this semester’s highlights
- breaking ground on the new School of Communication, which will sit on the corner of the quad, in the modernized McKinley Building
- moving forward on the transformational campus plan, which calls for more residence halls and a new home for the Washington College of Law on the Tenley campus
- garnering recognition for AU’s schools and programs, including the School of Public Affairs and Kogod School of Business, which were lauded in U.S. News and World Report and Bloomberg Business Week, respectively
- hosting several high-profile speakers, including Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Texas governor RIck Perry, Arizona governor Jan Brewer, and former president Bill Clinton, who accepted the inaugural Wonk of the Year award in January
