Staff, faculty, and students often stop at the circulation desk to ask, “Do you have any books or movies just for fun?” The answer is a resounding yes.
Shelves located near the library exhibit space on the first floor hold a large rotating collection of popular new fiction and nonfiction—about seventy percent fiction and thirty percent nonfiction. New titles selected from popular readings lists are added every week or two. This collection is supported by the Student Library Endowment Fund.
Bender Library’s film collection includes over 5,200 titles and more than 4,000 of those can be borrowed for home use. This large, varied collection of important and interesting films is best accessed through the Media Services home page.

A search on “home use” with a keyword will bring up a complete list of available titles to browse. All titles designated for home use may be checked out for two days.
Students, staff, and faculty can choose from more than 7,000 titles including jazz, classical, popular, and other music traditions at the Music Library located in the Katzen Arts Center. Students may check out up to five CDs for one week.
Faculty and staff may check out CDs for four weeks.
Music can also be delivered in other formats. Interested users should contact the Music Library staff for information about databases and streaming services.
