SPA’s Thurber Honored for Scholarship, Service
James Thurber, director of the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies, will be recognized for his contributions to political science and public service with the 2010 Walter Beach Pi Sigma Alpha award on July 29.
The honor is given annually by the National Capital Chapter of the American Political Science Association. Past winners include congressmen, ambassadors, and governors.
A member of the AU faculty since 1974, Thurber is Distinguished Professor of Government in the School of Public Affairs, a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and the author of more than 80 articles, chapters, and books on Congress, interest groups and lobbying, and campaigns and elections.
