School of Communication

SOC is a communication laboratory informed by the experiences of professionals who work in the field and continue to serve as a focal point for developing and shaping communication services and strategies.

Today, nearly 1,200 students work, study, attend class, and conduct research in a space designed for 800. Despite space restrictions, SOC has responded imaginatively to an industry changed by time and technology, and three of its programs - in journalism, public communication, and film and media arts – are nationally ranked, with a reputation that is everyday being burnished and enhanced by the achievements of its students, professors, and alumni.

AnewAU will meet SOC's needs by renovating the stately McKinley Building, creating modern, well-equipped classrooms, seminar rooms, studios, and spaces for public forums and exhibitions.
