I am currently in my second year of the Race, Gender and Social justice PhD program at American University. I received my BA in anthropology with a minor in women's studies at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

My scholarly interests include: the function of the imagination in identity formation and community building, with a specific focus on how identity is being crafted via internet communities and mobilized through political action websites; the role of public education in simultaneously reproducing hegemonic structures and "guerilla warriors" who attempt to subvert such constructions; and the possibility of queer study as a starting point for political action and social change.

My personal interests include: long walks to the metro station, bringing the brooch back to popular culture, and quitting smoking. I am a Sagitarius and a Ram.
