My interests are in transnational identities, as a method to approach the nation-state and global spaces. In particular, considering displaced or refugee populations, including the development of long term diasporas, questions assumptions of place, history, agency, memory and responsibility. My current focus is in Sub Saharan Africa and its diasporas, locating the intersecting ideologies and narratives of loyalty, nationalism, peace, development, etc. I am also fascinated by the theological constructions of religious identity that inform social action and cultural influence. Especially interesting for me is the politicalization of conservative evangelicalism within the United States.

I am currently in my second year of the PhD program in Anthropology.
