American Outdoor Tennis Courts

American University features seven outdoor tennis courts for the use of the intercollegiate tennis teams as well as the University community. Two outdoor basketball courts complete the outdoor recreational facility located next to Reeves Field and behind Bender Arena.

The men’s and women’s tennis teams have enjoyed unparalleled success on their home court over the years, none more apparent than the last two years. AU has hosted three of the last four tennis team championships since joining the Patriot League, with the men’s team winning back-to-back title on the AU hardcourts and setting Patriot League Championship attendance records each year. The women's team captured the Patriot League title in 2002 while setting an attendance record.

Desperate for renovation, the entire outdoor tennis facility received the much-needed facelift in the summer of 2000. The University enlisted the services of Bishop’s Tennis to re-level and resurface the courts, which also received new windscreens. The three-month project gave the University one of the finest outdoor surfaces in the area.
