Sarah Thorn will begin her fourth season at American in the fall of 2004, bringing a wealth of playing experience and success to her post.
In her four years at AU, Thorn has helped the Eagles to a first-ever Patriot League championship and NCAA berth in 2003, in addition to a final RPI ranking of nine.
A 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa with degrees in communication studies and marketing, Thorn was a three-time All-Big Ten selection and an All-America pick as a four-year starter for the Hawkeyes from 1996-99. As a senior captain and the team co-MVP, Thorn was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team while helping Iowa to the 1999 NCAA Final Four.
Recently, she has coached at College Super Camp and was a National Futures Coach in 2003. Thorn assisted at the Champions Edge Clinics in both 2001 and 2002. She began her coaching career as an undergraduate assistant coach with the Hawkeyes in 2000 and coached at the Champions Edge Field Hockey Clinic in the spring.
Thorn currently resides in Bethesda, Md.
