Magdalena Aguilar begins her first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the American University field hockey staff after completing a stellar four-year campaign in 2003. Aguilar was a four-year starter and topped the team's scoring charts in every season. Aside from being named the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) co-Rookie of the Year in 1999, she earned first team all-conference accolades from both the CAA and the Patriot League. She was named to the STYX/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team all four years and participated in the the 2002 North-South Senior All-Star Game. Aguilar also garnered Patriot League Scholar-Athlete honors in her senior season. She is currently second on both AU's all-time career goals list with 53 and career points list with 125 and is also tied for sixth on AU's all-time assist chart with 19. She consistently ranked among national leaders in scoring as well. Academically, she majored in philosophy and sociology and participated in the NCAA Leadership Conference held in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. following her freshman year.
